With the encouragement of two high School drama teachers I embarked on a long and wonderful career in the performing arts.  Graduating from colleges with excellent theater programs my path lead to the free-lance world of  professional theater for over twenty years.  I came home and became a theater teacher at the School for Creative and Performing Arts, but I had always wanted to come back to Harrison and participate in a community theater program. However, there wasn't an available program in Harrison.  So, I placed my dream on the shelf and focused on my work at SCPA.

Last summer I worked with several young students who were performing Biblical stories at a local summer camp. I was immediately impressed with the talent and enthusiasm displayed by these young artists. I thought it was time to dust off that dream and revisit the idea of creating a home for the arts in Harrison.  I called Nina Quinlivan and asked if she would be interested in discussing the potential of developing a theater program.  Not only did she agree, she brought several folks to our first meeting held on August 4th, 2022.  Since that first meeting, we have procured a tireless Board, written our by-laws, received a non-profit status, chosen our summer musical and finally decided on our name; Harrison Center for the Arts. It is our goal that in the future we have a center that not only supports theater, but includes art, dance, music and all things creative.
